Circulation

The Hopkinsville Christian County Public Library has a collection of 84,000 books and periodicals, 1,980 CDs, records, cassettes, and other audio materials, as well as 3,100 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes.

Obtaining a Library Card

Any person who lives, works, or goes to school in Christian County is eligible for a library card. To get a library card you must:
  • Be at least 5 years of age.
  • Live or work in Christian County (including Ft. Campbell).
  • Show a picture I.D. (must be valid, not expired).
  • Show proof of address - this may be on your current I.D. or driver's license, a bill, or any mail that has come to you through the U.S. Postal Service.
  • If under the age of 18 years, must have a parent or guardian present to sign up.

Check Out Policy

  • All items can be checked out for 3 weeks and may be renewed once in person or by phone.
  • Only 4 videos or DVDs may be checked out at one time.
  • Only 5 music CDs may be checked out at one time.
  • A total of 30 items may be checked out to an individual at any time.
  • Patrons under the age of 18 years may not check out videos or DVDs.

Returning Items

Books can be returned to the front desk or the book drop on the street. DVDs and CDs are returned to the front desk or the video drop located on the front of the building.

Overdue Fees

All late items are 20 cents a day with a max overdue fee of $4.00 per item.

Reserving an Item

If you find that a material is already checked out, you can either call or come in and speak with somebody at the front desk to put a book on hold. This is done by a first-come, first-serve basis.

Lost Materials

Materials that are lost will be charged based on the retail cost of the item. Lost items must be paid for, they cannot be replaced with a new copy.

Prints, Photocopies, & Faxes

Black and white prints from a PC are 10 cents a page (color prints are not available). Photocopies are 10 cents a page unless taken from the microfilm reader which are 25 cents a page. Faxes are $1 a page to send and 25 cents a page to receive.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan is a service provided to library patrons to obtain materials not owned by the library. The Hopkinsville Christian County Public Library can request books from other libraries for patrons. There is no charge for most libraries in state, however if the book comes from out of state or a private school, there is a $2 postage fee.
